Sebastian Lletget Helps National Team in World Cup Qualifier
Talented Midfielder Splits Time with West Ham United, US National Team & Santa Clara Sporting

Sebastian Lletget form the Santa Clara Sporting ’92 Boys Team was instrumental in helping the U17 US National Team win their bracket competition in the 2009 FIFA World Cup Qualifier games last weekend in Mexico. (#20). Sebastian moved this year to England to become part of the West Ham United Development Academy a year and a half ago when he was scouted by Mike Leigh from West Ham United via Sporting Coach Ralf Cebrian. West Ham is a 1st division team in the English Premier League. Between his duties playing on the Sporting ’92 Team, the West Ham United Academy Team, he has helped the USA Team to many victories. Last week Sebastian traveled from England to join the USA team for the Fifa World Cup U17 qualifiers in Tijuana, Mexico. Sebastian scored two goals for the USA squad; 1 goal against Canada and 1 goal against Cuba. The USA team clinched their bracket in 1st place and earned a birth in the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup to be held later on this year in Nigeria.

Matt Taylor & '92 State ODP Team Win Regional Championships

Matt Taylor of the Santa Clara Sporting 91 Green Team just returned from Arizona with the Cal-North 92 Boys ODP Team after winning the 92 Boys Age Group at the US Youth Soccer Region IV ODP Regional Championships on Monday, January 20, 2009. Held in Phoenix, they earned the right to represent Region IV at the US Youth Soccer National ODP Championships to be held in March 20-22, 2009 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX.

With a combined roster of 92’s and 93’s, Cal North went undefeated scoring 10 goals while giving up only 3 with 3 shutouts.

Andre Alvarez Called-up to U15 US National Team
'93 Sporting Team player Heads to New Jersey Camp

Andre Alzarez from the Santa Clara Sporting ’93 Team was called-up to the U15 US National Team and will attend a week-long training camp on Sunday, June 14th. Andre and 48 players will gather in Zarephath, N.J. The camp coincides with the U-17 MNT training camp which takes place at the same time at the PDA training facilities.

Clark, Gooch & Osborne Tryout in the UK
Osborne Called-up to US National Team & Tryout for Chivas US

Midfielder Byrce Clark and forward Lynden Gooch from the Santa Clara Sporting Boys 95 Team traveled to England in August to train and tryout with the Sunderland FC Youth Academy (England). Lynden Gooch and Riche Osborne (Sporting 92) also had a tryout with the West Ham United

 Youth Academy team, in East London, which has produced internationally reknowned players like Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Jermaine Defoe (Portsmouth), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United) and Anton Ferdinand (Sunderland) to name but a few. While at West Ham Lynden played in three games against youth academy teams from England and Denmark, were he scored goals in every game and impressed the West Ham Academy staff with his level of play.

Riche Osborne was also called-up to the US National Team Camp in Florida, and was also asked to try-out for the Chivas US MLS Team.

14 Sporting Players Invited to State ODP Tryouts

14 Santa Clara Sporting players were invited to tryout for the 2008-09 CYSA Cal-North State ODP Teams.  These soccer players are competing in the U13-U15 age groups and will tryout December 6th-7th in Morgan Hill, then December 13th-14th in Ripon. State ODP players train from April-July,and travel to Colorado to compete against other State ODP Teams from the Western United States. They also have the opportunity to tryout for the Regional ODP Team, and possibly on to the US National Team.

Mizuki Hamada Promoted to Urawa Reds 1st Team
SC Sporting Alumni also U20 Japanese National Team Member

 

Mizuki Hamada who played at Santa Clara Sporting, then returned home to Japan was recently promoted to the Urawa Reds 1st Team in the Japanese Professional Soccer J-League.  Mizuki is a defender who is also a member of the under 20 Japanese National Team.
