Sporting '92 Finish Last Surf Cup as Semi-Finalists

The Santa Clara Sporting ’92 Boys Team completed their last College Surf Cup as Semi-finalists in the Mens U18 Group.  The #8 Ranked Team in the US were defending 2009 College Surf Cup Champions heading to San Diego to help their last group of players get the necessary playing time for college recruitment.  They won their first game 2-1 over the Patadores from SoCal, tied the Texas Fire 93 Team 2-2 in their second bracket game, then beat the LAFC Team 2-1 in their 3rd bracket game to earn a spot in the Semis.  Sporting lost to the Spokane Shadow 92 from Washington 0-2.

The Sporting ’92s are one of the most successful teams in the club and in the United States. They have been ranked #1 in the US by during the course of their team history, they won numerous State Cup Championships, Surf Cup and other major events, and developed Sebastian Lleget, who is one of the most talented midfielders to make the jump and play soccer professionally in Europe. Head coach Carlos Brasil also coaches the Sporting ’94s and the Sporting ’98 Green Teams.
