Sporting 95B White Crowned Presidents Cup Champs & Head to Utah

Team will represent Cal-North at Regionals

Congratulations to the Santa Clara Sporting 95 Boys White Team for winning the 2011 CYSA President’s Cup last month. The team went undefeated throughout the tournament and scored 16 goals, and only allowed 4 into their net during the five games. The ’95s won the championship game 6-1 over the MVLA X-Treme team in Elk Grove.  The Presidents Cup victory gives the team the right to represent Cal-North at the Regionals in Utah on June 14th-19th.

The Sporting ’95 Boys White Team started two years ago in the spring of 2009. Credit goes to head coach Sean Cervantes for building the squad and taking them from the lowest Class 3 division to a Class 1 team. This team has been built on chemistry, motivation, hard work, and heart and desire from players, parents, manager, and coaches.

Here is the team’s short but meteoric rise from 2009:

  • Fall 2009 Cysa League 1st place 9 wins 1 tie 44 goals for 4 against
  • Fall 2009 moved to a higher division for district cup then Won District Cup
  • Summer 2010 enter first class 1 tourney In Napa lose 1-0 in Semi
  • Fall 2010 Ballistic cup Won all games and Won Ballistic Cup Goals for 16 against 1
  • Fall 2010 CCSL League 1st Place 9 wins 1 loss 38 goals for 9 against
  • Winter 2011 Indoor league Champions
  • Spring 2011 Presidents Cup won all games and Won Presidents Cup Goals for 16 against 4

Congratulations to head Coach Sean Cervantes who started the team in the Class 3 Division, and are now a very competitive Class 1 team. Good luck to the boys and enjoy your trip to Utah.
